Los Angeles-based, female-owned activewear label Year of Ours has launched a new collection of functional and feminine silhouettes in neon and tie-dye. Styles include separates and onesies in surf-inspired fabrics with a nostalgic nod to workout Barbie in her fitness-glam heyday. Showcasing playful, multi-function styles fabricated for a 2021 world of remote work, outdoor and digital workouts and al fresco drinks with friends at the end of the day, the new collection was designed in collaboration with Los Angeles-based personal trainer and group fitness instructor Lindsey Harrod.
Together with Harrod, Year of Ours tried to capture Los Angeles’ “original iteration of spandex”, combining it with nylon to compress muscles and wick away sweat. Year of Ours’ new scuba-styled bodysuits, tie-dye leisure separates and cleavage-displaying and zippered sports bras were designed to ensure they hit the perfect balance of made-in-LA form and function. Each of the solid pink and black pieces in the collection are made from a polyester-spandex blend, while the tie-dye shrug, cropped tee and shorts are made from a pre-shrunk, 100% French Cotton Terry.
The new collection includes seven key pieces including a scuba onesie, zip front bra, zip front tank, biker shorts, a cleavage-displaying shrug and layer-friendly lounge pieces. Colorways include pink, black and a black and white tie-dye.
Year of Ours ambassador Lindsey Harrod shares that, “The inspiration behind this collection was to showcase and capture a very athletic yet fashion-forward feel. My goal was for it to feel feminine, but still sporty and fierce. Comfort, style, practicality, and inclusivity were at the forefront of my mind.” Each piece in the new collection is intended for the woman, “who is slaying zoom calls all day, crushing a Pilates class, and then running to happy hour.”
Co-founder of Year of Ours Eleanor Haycock says of the new collection, “the colors were bright and fun, the details were so complementary to the shapes of the pieces, and it was truly something that everyone could wear. The versatility of these pieces and ability to layer the lifestyle and active pieces with ease continues to be at the forefront of our design process.”
The new collection created in collaboration with Lindsey Harrod is available now at the Year of Ours site.
