‘Make hay while the sun is shining’: Dominello urges higher NSW vaccine uptake

NSW Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello says residents “should make hay while the sun is shining” amid fears the slowing vaccination rate could delay the state’s reopening at 80 per cent.

Health officials believe NSW will reach 80 per cent weeks later than the original forecasted date, as the state deals with a shortage in vaccine supply.

“If we get to 80 per cent, that’s great but it’s not ideal,” Mr Dominello told Sky News Australia.

“We should make hay while the sun is shining and whilst we’re on this upward trajectory in relation to vaccine, we need to drive that as high as we can.

“We know that Australia generally accepts vaccines: in relation to childhood vaccines, 95 per cent.

“So, if we can get into the high 80s, 90s, that just gives us so much more headroom moving forward as a country and as a state.”
