Brian Laundrie update – Cause of death of Gabby Petito’s fiancé to be revealed after notebook found near his body

BRIAN Laundrie’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed, weeks after his bones were located at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

That hasn’t stopped online sleuths from speculating that his notebook could contain artwork that reveals the truth about Gabby Petito’s murder.

Laundrie’s remains have been given to a forensic anthropologist to be inspected, and his cause of death is expected to be determined by the end of November.

Meanwhile, despite the contents of Laundrie’s notebook not yet being revealed, a friend of Brian’s told The Sun in an exclusive interview that the notebook could contain clues to solve Gabby Petito’s death, whom a medical coroner determined had died due to strangulation.

Criminologist Casey Jordan said a notebook “pointed to the possibility” of a suicide note, 7News reports.

Gabby Petito was seen on August 24, 2021, checking out of a hotel with Brian in Salt Lake City, Utah and she was reported missing on September 11 by her mother after Brian returned home without her on September 1. The couple reportedly visited the Merry Piglets diner in Jackson, Wyoming on August 27 as well.

On September 19, 2021, authorities in Wyoming announced a body was found in the area where the search for Gabby had been underway.

  • BUTTERFLY LINK?

Internet sleuths had already alleged that Petito’s interest in butterflies could offer clues to her disappearance.

A TikTok video published to the site last month highlighted how 22-year-old Petito used butterflies across her social media, before showing a clip of Laundrie discussing flies to the cops.

Laundrie – who was found dead last month after being named a “person of interest” in the investigation into Gabby’s death – says to police in the video, “and the flies here are pretty intense, so the flies have definitely been getting to her”.

One person commented on the video, claiming: “I think sometimes butterflies can be used as a signal that someone is experiencing or survived domestic abuse”.

  • LAST INSTAGRAM POST

Gabby final Instagram was also suspicious, sleuths claim, and hinted at signs about “death and evil.”

The post – which was shared online on August 25 and captioned with a fly and pumpkin emoji – shows the tragic vlogger standing in front of a butterfly mural.

Questions had already been raised about whether Brian – and not Gabby – uploaded the final post.

Now one sleuth has suggested the use of a fly emoji rather than a butterfly could hint at something more sinister.

They wrote on Facebook: “If Brian did author that last post I noticed something weird.

“Clearly the picture is of her with butterflies in the background. So why is there a fly emoji instead of a butterfly emoji?

“I googled the symbolism behind a fly and it means evil and bringers of death… coincidence?

“Brian seemed like the spiritual one with nature type. So just an observation.”

  • EMOJI CRY FOR HELP?

Web sleuths are convinced Gabby posted a knife emoji and picture of her fiancé Brian grinning as a cry for help.

Instagram users are analyzing a post from Petito’s page on January 11 that shows Gabby posing for a mirror selfie with the caption: “Been listening to morbid podcast all morning, and I’m obsessed @morbidpodcast.”

The caption also shows a knife emoji before Gabby states how she misses Charleston, South Carolina, and her godmother Flora Rocco. The post currently has over 7,000 likes.

One user commented “Woah…do you think she’s been trying to say something since this post?!”

Another said “Ominous [as f**k]” while a third one asked, “but is she trying to hint something?”

  • SPECULATION AROUND BRIAN’S NOTEBOOK

Online sleuths speculated that Laundrie may have written a “confession note” in the notebook.

And web detectives, who claimed to have unearthed a series of “demonic artworks” on Laundrie’s social media profiles, claim the journal could contain chilling drawings.

One Facebook “detective” said: “I think it’s probably his art. They were both into drawing.”

An internet sleuth feared: “My theory is drawing of the events that led up to it and during her strangulation. It’s going to be dark (sic).”

It’s not known what, if anything, is inside the notebook that officers reportedly found.

  • BRIAN’S BEST FRIEND: ‘IT APPEARS AS IF THIS STORY IS OVER’

Brian Laundrie’s friend told The Sun: “It appears as if this story is over.”

The friend alluded to Laundrie’s notebook as showcasing an important look into Laundrie’s private life and his potential last days with Petito.

“Hopefully his notebook can detail what it is we all want to know,” the friend said, alluding to Petito’s cause of death that was determined to be by strangulation.

  • BRIAN’S BEST FRIEND ASKS ‘WHY?’

Laundrie’s best friend exasperatedly asked “why” he would do such a thing, adding they believe Laundrie is the person behind Gabby Petito’s death.

The friend told The Sun in an exclusive interview that Laundrie’s notebook could contain clues to solve Petito’s death, whom a medical coroner determined had died due to strangulation.

“I think this is the outcome we expected,” the friend told The Sun in an exclusive interview after Laundrie’s remains were found and subsequently identified.

“I don’t know if it’s the one we would ask for,” the friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

  • ‘BOMBARDED WITH VIOLENT IMAGES’

“Then there can be people in the throes of various mental illnesses that can be kind of bombarded with violent images that are representations of how they feel inside,” Dr Guralnik added.

Laundrie shared numerous art pieces that featured blood, knives, and violence to social media.

  • ‘SOCIOPATHS WILL ACT ON VIOLENT IMAGES’

Brian Laundrie’s artwork was analyzed by a psychologist, who told The Sun that it’s “rare to act on violent images”.

Dr Orna Guralnik, a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst from New York, said “sociopaths will act on violent images.”

She added: “Many people translate difficult feelings that they have inside to violent images. Many people translate bad feelings into violent motifs.”

The message was sent to Nichole Schmidt on August 30 when Gabby and fiancé Brian Laundrie were still on their cross-country road trip.

The mysterious text read: “No service in Yosemite”

Yosemite is about 800 miles away from Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming where Gabby’s remains were eventually found.

It’s unclear if Gabby was the one who sent the message, but the FBI has pinpointed her date of death to between August 27 to 30.

  • BRIAN’S FAMILY FURIOUS OVER WOMAN POSING AS EX

The Sun exclusively revealed that the Laundries are furious at the woman who they say is pretending to be Brian’s ex-girlfriend.

According to a family source, Brian’s sister, Cassie, said she and her family do not know who the woman is.

April Valenzuela, who shares a mutual friend with the Laundries, told the US Sun that she spoke to the alleged “fake” girlfriend for two hours on the phone last Tuesday.

Valenzuela said Cassie was “furious” after seeing stories about “Gabriella Darling.”

“It was messed up, and it made Cassie so mad,” Ms Valenzuela told the US Sun.

  • WOMAN CLAIMED TO BE BRIAN’S EX

A woman going by the name of “Gabriella Darling” on social media has been claiming to be Brian’s girlfriend before Gabby Petito.

In September, she posted claims that Brian was “narcissistic” and “controlling.”

However, once his body was identified, her tone changed to be that of a grief-stricken ex, who is still in love with Brian.

  • QUESTIONABLE FIREARM

Photos surfaced of Brian Laundrie’s bedroom revealing an American Flag-painted gun hanging off his bookshelf.

The gun hangs diagonally from a black-and-white poster above a bookshelf of people beating each other.

The gun was noticed by internet sleuths, but investigators are still looking into Brian’s habits leading up to Gabby Petito’s death and his disappearance.

  • GABBY PETITO’S FATHER NOT EXPECTING CLOSURE FROM NOTEBOOK

After Florida police said the notebook found near Brian Laundrie’s remains may be salvagable, Gabby Petito’s father, Joe Petito, said he instead wants to focus on helping other abused and missing women.

The grieving father reportedly told TMZ that nothing in Laundrie’s book can bring his daughter back or help with his grief.

  • BRIAN LAUNDRIE’S NOTEBOOK COULD BE SALVAGEABLE

North Port police told NewsNation’s Brian Entin they believe the notebook found by Laundrie’s remains could be salvageable.

  • GABBY’S WEDDING PLANS

The 22-year-old vlogger had mapped out several design schemes and alfresco ideas for her nuptials on her Pinterest page in an album poignantly titled “Life goals.”

The curated collection of images, which include photos of outdoor ceremonies and beachfront banquets, is shared with Brian Laundrie, his mother Roberta, and a fourth account by the name of “PinJunkeeMama.”

A sub-folder within the album, titled “Oh Baby” and shared between the same four people, indicates that Gabby and Laundrie may have been planning to eventually have a child together.

  • ‘HER FINAL RESTING PLACE’

Gabby’s family traveled to Wyoming where her remains were found near Grand Teton National Park on September 19.

“It almost felt like her home. Her final resting place,” Gabby’s mom, Mrs Schmidt, told Dr Oz on a recent episode of the show featuring Gabby’s parents and step-parents.

“Such a beautiful, peaceful place to be. And we went there to bring her home and that’s what we did.”

  • SLEUTHS CLAIM BRIAN ‘CHASED’ GABBY BEFORE STRANGLING HER

Some web sleuths claim that Brian Laundrie “chased” his fiancée Gabby Petito before strangling her in the wilderness after an alleged fight in a restaurant.

Gabby is believed to have been last seen alive with her fiancé at the Merry Piglets Tex-Mex café in Jackson, Wyoming on August 27.

One Facebook sleuth posted: “How did Gabby’s remains end up where they did? I was wondering if he was chasing her to that spot after getting into a battle royale after Merry Piglets.”

“Some people said they camped there. Why would they pick that as a camping spot?”

  • ‘I NEEDED TO GET OUT’

Tara Petito, Gabby’s stepmother, also spoke on the Dr Oz episode about her own abusive relationship before her marriage to Mr. Petito.

She said that it started with “isolation.”

“It wasn’t until he hit me that realized that I needed to get out,” she said.

Gabby’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, said they all “didn’t see any red flags” about her daughter’s relationship.

  • GABBY’S MOM ‘DIDN’T SEE ANY RED FLAGS’

In a recent episode of his show, Dr Oz asked Gabby’s parents and step-parents about the aftermath of the case, when authorities found Gabby’s remains, and if they had any idea of any possible abuse between Gabby Petito and her fiancé.

“I don’t know why Gabby didn’t open up to me about certain things,” said Gabby’s mother, Nichole Schmidt about her daughter’s relationship.

“We just didn’t see any red flags.”

  • ‘ALL THE HALLMARKS OF AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP’

Gabby Petito’s dad, Joe Petito, sat down with Dr Oz to talk about Gabby’s relationship with Brian, alongside his daughter’s mom Nicole Schmidt, stepdad Jim Schmidt, and stepmom Tara Petito.

Dr Oz asked Gabby’s parents and stepparents if they noticed any possible signs of abuse from Gabby’s fiancé during the episode, which aired on Tuesday.

Mr Petito told the TV personality that Brian had “all the hallmarks of an abusive relationship,” according to the Independent.

As Gabby’s dad likened Brian to a typical domestic abuser, he said: “The way the abuser works is to shame the victim,” adding that when abuse victims are shamed, they’re less likely to “go out and tell you what’s going on.”

“And continually shame the victim to where they start believing that shame is theirs to hold,” he added.

  • DID BRIAN LAUNDRIE HAVE A FUNERAL?

Through their attorney, Laundrie family revealed that they would be cremating their son’s ashes and forgoing a funeral.

His family left their homes in North Port on October 24 to grieve together in an undisclosed location in Florida.

Chris and Roberta Laundrie returned to their home on October 26.

  • ‘HOGWASH’

Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino called it “hogwash” to suggest the parents planted Brian’s possessions in the swamp, explaining that they were both being shadowed by reporters and police.

He said the area where the remains and belongings were found was the same location Chris and Roberta had told cops to search a month ago.

“Indeed, this is the very area of the park that we initially informed law enforcement, on I believe it was September 17th, that Brian would be most likely in the preserve,” Bertolino said.

“Mr. Laundrie informed me that it was quite near the entrance… He put a time frame of about 30 minutes in.”

“A mile or two into the reserve.”

  • VAN LIFE

Petito had quit her job and packed her life into a camper van for a cross-country adventure with Brian Laundrie, starting in July, documenting their journey in a stream of social media posts.

In images shared by the couple online they are all smiles — barefoot in a canyon or surveying the ochre rocks of state and national parks.

In one YouTube video published during their trip, Petito and Laundrie are shown kissing tenderly, enjoying a sunset together and strolling on a beach.

But the young woman’s family filed a missing person report on September 11 after the 22-year-old mysteriously vanished, and Laundrie returned home to Florida without her.
