Bulgari Teams With MB&F For An Exclusive Mash-Up Of Fearless Watchmaking And Gemsetting

MB&F – Max Büsser and Friends – has collaborated with most of the notable independent watchmakers and suppliers in the industry, but its new collaboration with Bulgari marks the first time it has joined forces with such a big name. It’s also one of the few ladies’ watches in the MB&F line.

The MB&F x Bulgari Legacy Machine Flying T Allegra is a true hybrid of both brands, with MB&F’s signature unconventional interpretation of classic watchmaking mechanisms combined with Bulgari’s fearless use of color. The dial is like a modern sculpture, with the diamond-set tourbillon and balance wheel set above the dial plate and the hour-and-minute dial rising above the dial at a 50-degree angle. The T in “FlyingT” stands for the initial of Max Büsser’s wife, Tiffany, as well as for flying Tourbillon.

It is surrounded by large, clean, cabochon gemstones that might well serve as center stones in Bulgari cocktail rings. The white gold version is set with three tsavorite garnets, a topaz, an amethyst, a tanzanite and a round tourmaline. The rose gold version is set with two tsavorite garnets, two tourmalines, a tanzanite, an amethyst and a rubellite. They perch boldly on top of the dial in prong settings against a backdrop of snow-set diamonds. The bezel is also diamond set, for a total of more than 3 carats. For the woman looking for something with both style and substance, this is it.

The story of the collaboration between Bulgari and MB&F is first and foremost that of an encounter – initially motivated by mutual professional respect and subsequently evolving into a strong friendship – between Bulgari’s product creation executive director Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani and MB&F’s founder and creative director, Maximilian Büsser. The MB&F x Bulgari Legacy Machine Flying T Allegra is limited to 20 pieces each in 18k rose or white gold, priced at $185,000 plus tax.
