‘Contradictions and confusion’: Byron Mayor deals with ‘frustrating’ Qld border policy

The way Queensland’s COVID border bubble with Northern NSW has played out has been “frustrating the entire time”, according to Byron Shire Mayor Michael Lyon.

It comes amid a backpacker hostel in Byron Bay in New South Wales being placed into a snap seven-day lockdown on Thursday after a positive COVID-19 case was identified.

Premier Palaszczuk is considering a Tweed-Gold Coast border bubble but has expressed concerns over Byron’s COVID outbreak.

“It’s been frustrating the entire time to be honest, the way that’s all played out,” Mr Lyon told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
