Newcastle Jockey Club CEO Duane Dowell says the club is expecting a “bumper crowd” for The Hunter horse race in Newcastle today.
“We’ve had more than three and a half thousand pre-sales, and we’re expecting plenty more, probably a crowd around 5-6,000 today, so really looking forward to it,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr Dowell said the club has “invested heavily” in promoting The Hunter horse race to the local area while pushing the notion that “it’s the Hunter people’s event and it’s their race”.
“The response to all of our marketing strategies has really worked, so looking forward to a big crowd,” he said.
