Cost of living to be the ‘major issue’ at the upcoming election

The Menzies Research Centre’s Nick Cater says he believes cost of living will be the “major issue” at the upcoming election.

It comes as the latest Tax Office data shows employment levels are now 5.7 per cent higher than before the pandemic – after 485,000 jobs were added since the height of the eastern state COVID lockdowns.

“I think the crucial thing … is cost of living,” Mr Cater told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Jobs is a great start but we need to see more.”
