Gay couple, their youngsters verbally assaulted by California Amtrak passenger throughout journey to Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — What was purported to be a enjoyable household journey, became a nightmare Tuesday afternoon for Robbie Pierce, his husband Neal and their youngsters.

The couple was hours into an Amtrak practice journey from Los Angeles to the Bay Area, when all of the sudden one other passenger got here as much as the couple and commenced screaming at their youngsters.

“The first thing he said was, ‘Remember what I told you. Marriage is between a man and a woman, and these people stole you. They’re not your parents, they’re pedophiles,”‘ Pierce stated.

The couple says they have been each shocked and horrified.

Pierce’s husband, Neal Broverman, instantly jumped as much as separate the raging man from his children.

“When you’re a parent and your family or kids feel threatened, or you feel that they’re threatened, you become kind of fearless,” Broverman stated.

Unaware if the person had some kind of weapon, Pierce says he took his youngsters to a special practice automotive.

The children, he stated, have been visibly shaken.

“They were both just sobbing. Just tears all down their faces. And my son was kind of just frozen. My daughter was yelling, ‘why is this happening?'” Pierce stated.

When the practice stopped in San Jose Amtrak staff advised the unidentified man that he needed to depart.

A request he refused, till Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies have been referred to as in for backup.

“He had been yelling, ‘I’ll die before I get off this train. You’ll have to kill me to get me out of here,”‘ stated Pierce.

The couple says whereas this is not the primary time they’ve skilled discrimination in public, this occasion was probably the most excessive.

“These children have already had so much trauma. Like they’ve been through the foster system,” Pierce stated.

But regardless of the assault, the couple says they’re decided to maintain dwelling their lives as regular. Speaking out for individuals who cannot all the time communicate out for themselves.

“They want us to be afraid. And so, as scary as it is, we can’t let that win. We’re just not going to let them drive us out of the public discourse,” stated Pierce.
