Health Services Union requires dramatic change to wage coverage

NSW Health Services Union Secretary Gerard Hayes says the present wages coverage is “outrageous” and “doesn’t fit the purpose of where we’re at”.

State well being staff will strike once more on Thursday after seeing no change to the coverage for the reason that final strike on March 31.

Mr Hayes dismissed the thought of a brief lifting of the wage rise cap, which is at the moment at 2.5 per cent nationally, saying it wanted to be modified dramatically.

“The wages policy came in over 20 years ago, it’s not fit for purpose now.” Mr Hayes informed Sky News Australia.

“Many qualifications that people have, particularly paramedics and allied health professionals, aren’t even realised in the current awards.”

Mr Hayes says the state authorities must put “ideology behind them” and work with the neighborhood to maintain and construct the economic system and members’ pursuits.
