PM: I cannot ‘cancel’ Katherine Deves

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australians are getting “pretty fed-up with having to walk on eggshells every day” as he defends his selection to not “cancel” Liberal candidate for Warringah Katherine Deves.

Ms Deves has created division throughout the Liberal Party over her social media posts about transgender folks, with NSW Treasurer Matt Kean calling for her to be disendorsed.

However, Mr Morrison has stood by Ms Deves and her campaigning for girls’s sport, saying she had discovered from her previous errors.

“Others might want to cancel her; others might want to cancel other Australians for standing up for things that they believe in, but I am not going to be in partnership with them,” he mentioned.
