THERE’S no excuse now not to turbo-charge women’s football in England.
But it all starts in schools.
At least a third still push girls into netball or hockey while the boys play football. Why? All girls should get an equal shot at the Beautiful Game — in school or at a local club.
Meanwhile, at the top, our major teams must not hesitate to shift women’s games to their stadiums if crowds now surge.
If schools raise their game and broadcasters and clubs keep investing, even greater success will follow . . . and nothing inspires like it.
To the Lionesses, congrats once again.
You conquered Europe. Now for the world.
Herr we go
WE hate to think of our German friends as bad losers. But evidence is mounting.
Now their Press reckon VAR cost them a penalty on Sunday. Will they still be whingeing about that in 2078?
Germans are supposed to have a descriptive word for every eventuality.
Everything, it seems, except “Germany getting beaten fair and square”.
War on ‘blob’
LIZ Truss’s war on Whitehall waste will be music to our readers’ ears.
Delivering it may be like climbing Everest without shoes.
We are all for ditching the staggering 326 diversity officers in Government and ending the scandal of taxpayers funding union reps to organise strikes.
Plus her wider pledge to “tackle left-wing groupthink in Government . . . and ensure officials focus on delivering on frontline public services”.
Good luck to Liz, if she wins power.
But such a revolution looks far harder than she may think.
HOW long can Keir Starmer pretend to be leading Labour when his front-benchers defy his orders not to join picket lines?
He talked tough about distancing the party from strikers.
The moment the unions threatened to cut his funding he surrendered, allowing even senior colleagues to picket with their “comrades”.
Starmer is a pitiable, confused figure.
On any issue — strikes, women’s identity, you name it — he cannot work out which way to face.
All he DOES know is that millions of voters detest Labour’s toxic mix of 1970s class-war union dogma and 21st Century woke extremism.
And he hasn’t a clue what to do about it.
