Wellness Travel in Los Cabos
“We have observed in Los Cabos that travelers have become more and more interested in creating a larger travel experience to include custom and private experiences and staying longer to be able to enjoy more time,” says Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “Travelers have increased their spend in the destination due to this change in behavior. For example, visitors’ average trip spend in Los Cabos is $2,500 vs $1,100 for Mexico overall.”
Esponda continues: “As our visitors seek more unique experiences in the destination, 23% of all travelers are reporting wellness and medical services among their top priorities when visiting the destination. These visitors are extending their spend in the destination to an average of $3,000 per trip.”

Ancestral Therapy focuses on unique treatments like the Cacahoatl massage which incorporates hot cacao beans to release muscle tension and align the body’s energy sources. The Yakunaj massage utilizes rose petals and aromatic essences. Other experiences include cocoa ceremonies, womb healing, temazcalli, rituals at dawn greeting the seven directions, and massage rituals with traditional Mexican herbalism.
Moduvated Fitness offers one-on-one personalized wellness programs for yoga, pilates, and personal training throughout Los Cabos. People can arrange for instructors to come to their hotel, at a nearby beach or a local part.
Kayaking along the protected coves and serene waters of Chileno Bay, Santa Maria Bay, and Lovers Beach lets you get close to wildlife without disturbing their habit. There are also glass bottom kayaks that let you see the sea life as you paddle through.
Standing up Paddleboarding is a water activity that requires balance and strength but nearly anyone can do it with the right instruction. As you paddle, you can explore the waters of Los Cabos near sea lions, sea birds, and dolphins. It’s a good core exercise and also helps create mindfulness.
Hiking is another great way to align the mind, body and soul connection. There are various scenic trails around Sierra de la Laguna, Rancho Cacachilas and Estero San Jose del Cabo. A popular trail is the Fox Canyon waterfall, which is along the river before leading uphill to a large natural pool at the foot of the waterfalls.
