Watch This Guy Try a Pro Woman Bodybuilder’s Leg Day Workout

Fitness YouTuber Will Tennyson is willing to try any bodybuilding workout. He previously attempted an old-school bodybuilding workout, Lee Haney’s Mr. Olympia workout, and Ironman athlete Nick Bare’s workout. Now, he’s taking on female bodybuilder Valerie Ratelle’s workout to see if he’s worth of “the bedazzled bikini”.

The workout is designed to crush the lower body, mostly using machines. Ratelle’s leg day workouts usually include 8 exercises, and is done in 45 minutes. “So not much rest,” she says.

They start with a warmup, which includes abduction and adduction work and weighted squats. “I already feel the pump,” says Tennyson. He notes that the workout is like a hybrid of bodybuilding and CrossFit, given the lack of downtime between exercises, and that she, “does not rest. I’m going to die.”

They get tot the workout, and start with leg extensions, walking lunges with a barbell and hack squats.

“That’s like a quad buffet,” says Tennyson. “That was like 35 reps in one set.” “We’re just getting started,” says Ratelle. “I already feel like my glycogen’s on reserve right now,” says Tennyson as the workout continues.

They discuss their mutual love of sweets and peanut butter (Tennyson likes donuts, while Ratelle likes cookies), before hitting the next set.

For the next set of exercises, they do a swing squat and lying leg press superset with reps to failure. And Tennyson is feeling it.

“She just battles right through it,” says Tennyson. “I’m actually not going to be able to walk for a week.” After he finishes the supersets, he’s seeing “black splotches. It’s probably not healthy.” Ratelle asks what he ate before, and he says nothing (he fasted).

“No! Shut up! Will, oh my god that’s the worst mistake you’ve made,” she says.

The cameraman asks her how he’s doing, and she says, “he’s doing really well, to be honest. I’m impressed. But we’re not done yet.” For the last set of hack squats, Tennyson sets a bet for who can get the most reps. And the winner gets a cookie cake. But if Tennyson wins, Ratelle has to give him money for 24 doughnuts.

They get to it, and Tennyson does 31 reps. Ratelle follows, and crushes 36 reps. But Tennyson poses a double or nothing walking lunge challenge in a last ditch effort… which Ratelle wins.

“Well that was an enjoyable and mentally agonizing workout,” says Tennyson.

And Ratelle notes she is “really proud” of him.
