Woman attacked by a kangaroo whereas enjoying golf on Gold Coast

A lady has been rushed to hospital after a kangaroo kicked and repeatedly “stomped” on her as she performed a spherical of golf on the Gold Coast.

The 69-year-old lady suffered extreme lacerations to her head, face, legs and arms at Arundel Hills Country Club after the kangaroo kicked her over with out provocation this morning.

“She’s fallen to the ground with that first kick and while she was on the ground she’s been stomped on a number of times by the kangaroo,” Queensland Ambulance Operations Supervisor Joel McEwan mentioned.

Mr McEwan mentioned the deepest cuts had been to her jaw.

“The lacerations were sustained after the kangaroo kicked her,” he mentioned.

The lady was transported to Pindara Private Hospital in a secure situation.

The lady was strolling down a fairway when the animal attacked “without warning”.

Australia has 4 kangaroo species— pink, japanese gray, western gray and antilopine.

The japanese gray is the commonest species in Queensland.

While kangaroos are typically placid they’ve been identified to assault after they really feel threatened.

“The reality is that they can be aggressive towards people,” Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science mentioned.

“Although the risk of this happening is very small, we still need to be wary around them.”

This comes after two different assaults final month.
